If you want security as a dancer, then a job where you get a longer contract may be what you are looking for.
These typically tend to be offered to dancers in areas such as dancing on cruise ships, musical theatre, touring
shows and other productions that last for an extended period of time.
These will often tie you up for a stated period of time, for example for a 1 year contract. Over this time you
can expect to receive a regular salary and as such won't need to keep on looking for jobs and auditions to stay
afloat.
Other areas such as music videos often only last for a few days, perhaps even a day. They do tend to pay well
though you will need to book quite a lot of these into to make it into a liveable income.
Those that book these big jobs on a regular basis can expect to receive an income above the average dancer.
There are also other things that you should do to increase the likelihood of booking these dance jobs.
One thing you should always be doing is training in some way or manner. Keep on attending dance classes and seeing where
you can improve your dancing.
For some people this is actually where they need to do more work. They don't need to send more CV's to agencies,
but they need to improve just that little bit more to give them the edge at auditions.
Another thing you should do is keep your photos updated and get new ones from time to time, especially if you
change your look a lot!
Get feedback from your dance teachers to see where you can improve and work at it. Every little thing counts.
And don't forget to enjoy the ride along the way!
